Only at Humewood Community School
The Community Playspace After School Program is a nature, arts, and community focused program for kids at Humewood Community School in grades JK, SK and grade one.
At Community Playspace we believe that the time between school dismissal and home-time are not just idle hours to be filled, but opportunities to promote self awareness and expression, confidence, kindness and community. Our unique programming helps kids re-calibrate after their day at school, and engage with enriching activities that teach them how to care for themselves, the earth, and each other.
We offer programming from Monday to Friday, from pick-up at Humewood Community School to caregiver pick-up at 5:30.

We’ll splash and get muddy, learn about the growth around us, and make art with the beautiful natural things we find in Cedarvale. Rain or shine, we’ll pack up after school, make sure everyone is dry enough for our adventure, and set off to Cedarvale Ravine for some fun with nature and public art.
We’ll be having fun deepening our kind hearts while we help out in our community to make it more beautiful and loving. Whether we’re playing litter-bug pick-up games, making snacks to help support the free “Underground Cafe” program, or supporting the food bank, we’ll be learning, helping, and having fun giving back and paying it forward.
We’ll stretch, get our groove on, and explore all the ways our bodies and voices can transform through characters, puppets, storytelling and dance.
Kids yoga! We play with poses, breathing exercises and beginner meditation to strengthen and stretch our bodies, hearts and minds.
We’ll be helping the environment and getting creative by transforming used recyclable items into artwork!
